Pee Dee SC Defensive Driving and Point Reduction Courses
8-Hour Course for Eligible Point Reduction
This $95 live instructor-led course is intended for eligible South Carolina drivers seeking to reduce up to four points from their driving record. It is separate from the shorter Defensive Driving Course.
4-Hour Course for Defensive-Driving Education
This separate $95 course focuses on safer-driving knowledge and may qualify certain drivers for an automobile-insurance discount. It does not provide the four-point reduction. Verify discount eligibility with your insurer before registering.
Both courses are available through live virtual instruction for residents of Florence, Myrtle Beach, Conway, Aynor, Marion, Darlington, Hartsville and surrounding Pee Dee and Grand Strand communities.

1. Register for a Scheduled Class

2. Participate in Eight Hours of Live Instruction

Decide Which Pee Dee Course Meets Your Requirement
The 8-Hour Point Reduction Course Is Intended For:
- Eligible drivers seeking to reduce up to four South Carolina license points
- Drivers specifically instructed to complete the approved eight-hour course
- People confirming a point-reduction requirement with a court or attorney
The 4-Hour Defensive Driving Course Is Intended For:
- Drivers whose insurance provider confirms eligibility for a discount
- Employees completing defensive-driving or workplace-safety education
- Drivers who want a shorter review of safer-driving practices
Confirm the exact course required by your court, attorney, employer or insurance provider before registering.
Can I attend from Florence, Myrtle Beach or another nearby community?
Yes. Both courses use scheduled live virtual instruction, so drivers throughout the Pee Dee, Grand Strand and the rest of South Carolina can attend from home.
What is the difference between the two courses?
The 8-hour course is for eligible South Carolina point reduction. The separate 4-hour course focuses on defensive-driving education and possible insurance savings.
Does the 4-hour course automatically reduce my insurance premium?
No. Qualification and savings depend on your insurance provider and policy. Confirm acceptance with your insurer before registering.
Does the 8-hour course remove a traffic ticket?
No. The course may reduce eligible license points, but it does not erase a ticket or guarantee a particular court outcome.
What if a court or attorney told me to take a course?
Ask whether you need the 4-hour Defensive Driving Course or the 8-hour 4 Point Reduction Course. The courses are not interchangeable.
